Bowls

Holt Short Mat Bowling Club was started in 1986 at the Holt Village Hall in the village of Holt near Wimborne in Dorset.

The club was originally sponsored by the Holt Village Hall committee as a new facility for the local populace. The initial equipment in those days was sold by carpet manufacturers who wanted a new outlet for their carpet factories.

The membership quickly grew over a few years to around 60 members, and has stayed at about the same number up to the present time.

We hold three meetings each week for friendly bowling on Tuesday and Wednesday afternoons and Tuesday evening.

If you are interested to learn more about us, see the Contact Us page. New members are welcome, whether they have previous bowling experience or are complete novices. Novices will be given training at no cost.

The club own a number of bowls (woods) and shoes which are available for visitors and new members to borrow. There is an annual membership subscription payable in September and there is no weekly session fee.
